“Anna’s Musique” is a nine song collection of vocals and instrumentals. First Glimmer of the New Year is a fitting beginning, an instrumental suggesting new light, and stirrings of hope for change. Andy Fraga Jr’s supremely tasteful drum work is a constant through this and all the tracks. Gene Beavers weaves in his electric bass magic, and Tony Bolivar’s sax takes this jazz waltz up to the next level

Forest of Memories is perhaps a “new-age” lyric, but surely very ancient as well. The song expresses a sense of being one with the cosmos, of connecting with something so much larger than your ego, and of connecting with another soul to help you on your journey. On this tune Tony’s flute evokes a storybook fable vibe, and my vocals express conviction in a surprising way (some say).

What if all your problems could disappear by stepping into a new pair? Shu Time was written for an afternoon performance at Nu Shuz in Redondo Beach, California. David Ross, my producer, added some fun ideas to this. We’ve got a tasty rhythm section: Greek spice from George Kavano on electric bass, the bite of world traveler Andy Fraga, Jr. on drums, and the savory guitar of jazzy Philly Joe Little — complemented by flavors of Tony’s sax. Try walking in them shoes!

Thanks to Ema Supertramp I was privileged to perform Here in the Corner at La Buca jazz club, Milan, Italy to a packed house. In the audience was our Couchsurfing friend from Switzerland, the effervescent Dilara Kortel. Although it may sound like it fits a Parisian cafe, the lyrics were born in a coffeehouse in Southern California, a few decades prior. It was on an evening when “watching the end of the day” captured a thoughtful mood. Andy, Gene, and Tony contributed to this smooth, gently swinging number.

I Know Where I’m Going (I Just Can’t Seem to Get There) expresses that feeling of…YOU know, when you have all this great energy and ideas but just can’t seem to get anyone else to buy in. Frustrated? No. Just keep moving til you get there. Gene Beavers on electric bass joins Andy on drums and Tony on sax for this high-power instrumental.

A good relationship helps you grow, even if you’re in a funky mood. Love Isn’t Cranky is a funky kind of song, filled with good intentions and a strong beat. Shout out to George on electric bass here. If it’s love, it will not come to an end. So, what are all these distractions?

Ev’ry Next Moment was written on my very first road trip with my new husband to visit his sister. Let’s samba to the next one! Tony fills with flute all over this one like blueberry syrup on pancakes. Love, love, love every moment!

Holy Expectation is a power anthem filled with uplifting spiritual encouragement. I’m looking forward to making even more dreams become reality, and so might you! This gospel-infused number celebrates living life to the fullest. Thanks to David, Sam, Andy, George, Tony, Philly Joe – you all ROCK!

Emboldened by the Spirit is an Instrumental jazz tune for dancing. Or solving a detective story. Somehow the whole is so much greater than the parts. What I mean is this song sounds like there were more musicians present than actually were. Thanks to sound engineering and mixing by Sam “Narwalking” Robertson.
